Media personality and entertainment pundit Abena Moet has weighed in on the ongoing scandal involving controversial pastor Prophet Ogyaba.

Speaking on Neat FM, Abena Moet expressed her disappointment in the behavior of some pastors, likening their lifestyles to those in the secular industry.

According to her, being a man of God comes with higher expectations.

“It’s like, right now, pastors are living the same lifestyle as those in the secular industry. There is no accountability.

“When you are a man of God, you are not just another Ghanaian. You should be better. Otherwise, I can also preach when a pastor is preaching,” she said.

She further criticised the lack of accountability among men of God and referenced biblical teachings, stating, “The Bible itself says that many people will do many things in the name of Christ, but on the day of judgment, Christ will say, ‘I know you not.’”

She also questioned Prophet Ogyaba’s response to the scandal, particularly his decision to share a video of himself and his wife shopping for a new phone.

Moet remarked, “For him to shamelessly do that? A man of God? And then he comes out with a video talking about haters and his wife? It’s like good women let men off too easily.”

She further wondered how Ogyaba could preach against fornication and adultery in his church after such a scandal.

Background of the scandal

The controversy began when Cassie, Ogyaba’s alleged ex-side chick, took to social media with explosive claims.

She accused the prophet of neglect, threats to her life, and exposing their extramarital affair, which she claimed resulted in a pregnancy.

Cassie supported her allegations with audio and video evidence, portraying herself as the victim and seeking public sympathy.

Prophet Ogyaba’s response

In a live session with TikTok influencers, Prophet Ogyaba admitted to the affair but defended himself by stating that, like any human, he is prone to mistakes.

He explained that the relationship deteriorated when Cassie claimed she was pregnant with twins, became increasingly demanding, and insisted on moving into his home.

He denied Cassie’s claim of living with him for four months, stating it was only one month.

He added that after sending a cease-and-desist letter, Cassie’s uncle later claimed she had lost the pregnancy due to a fall.

Ogyaba believes her allegations are an act of blackmail and urged the public not to judge him harshly, reminding everyone that even as a man of God, he is still human.

Attempts to salvage his image

Amid the scandal, Prophet Ogyaba shared a video on Instagram of himself and his wife, Mrs. Abigail Boakye, at Kumasi City Mall.

In the video, he explained that they were purchasing a new phone for his wife after their child damaged her old one.

He emphasised their unity, stating, “The First Lady is here,” as they shopped together. His wife appeared happy and smiling throughout the outing.

The video, however, sparked mixed reactions from Ghanaians online.

Many viewed the post as an attempt by Prophet Ogyaba to shift public attention from the scandal and portray his marriage as stable.
