Media personality and entertainment pundit MC Yaa Yeboah has shared a heartbreaking story about her difficult upbringing and a harrowing experience where she nearly got raped. Speaking to radio host Nana Romeo on Accra FM, she opened up about her childhood struggles and the challenges she faced growing up.

According to Yaa Yeboah, she was raised in Accra New Town Zongo, an environment where violence was common. Her mother, though well-meaning, was frequently away due to travel, leaving her without guidance. “There wasn’t really anyone around to shape my behavior and way of thinking,” she recalled.

Her relationship with her father was also troubled. He was once a good man, but over time, he became physically abusive, making home life unbearable for her. She felt neither happy nor comfortable at home. Determined to gain independence, she started working with a savings and loan company while in junior high school, using the money she earned to plan her escape.

At one point, she left home entirely, wandering the streets and telling strangers she had no parents, hoping someone would take her in. A kind couple she met decided to take her to the police station instead, as they couldn’t accommodate her. While at the station, something terrifying happened, one of the policemen tapped her buttocks while she was resting and tried to lure her outside under the pretense of urinating. She narrowly escaped what could have been a traumatic experience. ‘ So I nearly got raped,’ she revealed.

When the police eventually took her back home, her father showed little concern. “I thought you wouldn’t come back again,” he coldly remarked. After completing senior high school, she finally left home for good and moved in with a friend.

Despite the hardships and struggles she endured, Yaa Yeboah persevered and built a successful career for herself. Her story is a testament to resilience and determination.
