Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has acknowledged the growing criticism of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, stating that based on recent results, it is easy to conclude he shouldn’t be in charge.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Twum admitted that public frustration is understandable, especially after Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). However, he reminded fans that challenges were expected when Addo was appointed.
“Based on results, one can easily conclude Otto Addo shouldn’t be there. But before his appointment, it was made clear that there would be tough times,” Twum explained.
Despite widespread calls for Addo’s dismissal, reports suggest that the GFA intends to keep him as head coach. An official announcement on his future is expected next month before Ghana resumes its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign against Chad and Madagascar.
As pressure mounts, the debate continues on whether the Black Stars need a change in leadership or should maintain stability to build for the future. The GFA’s decision in the coming weeks will be crucial in shaping Ghana’s footballing direction.
