Ghanaian filmmaker, Yaw Skyface, has expressed disappointment in artiste manager, Bullgod, over the claim that shooting a music video in 2025 doesn’t make sense.

In an interview on Hitz FM on January 28, 2025, Yaw Skyface noted that there are television stations in the country that solely promote artistes through their music videos.

He emphasised that if it didn’t work for Bullgod, it doesn’t mean shooting a music video won’t work for other creatives.

“I was disappointed. It wasn’t a good thing for him to say because it was like saying artistes doing live bands aren’t relevant in 2025. If it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for anybody. Maybe he did it for his artiste and it didn’t work, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for any artiste… You don’t expect TV stations that have set up to play music videos to play visualisers. They won’t do that because of the quality,” he said.

Yaw Skyface added that music videos serve as a medium that up-and-coming artistes can utilise to become famous.

“There are a lot of artistes you will respect because of the way their music videos are and also how they portray themselves in a certain way. You can also look at the digital and social media risks. Some people cut short videos of songs from their music videos to promote them on social media.

“It can work for somebody, but if you do visualisers more than three times, it won’t work… It’s like you are directing people to do the bad thing and you will come out from it. Also, you are not helping the up-and-coming people. If you post a video on YouTube, you can get likes and exposure. Again, in bigger collaborations, people want to see the kind of artiste behind the song,” he added.
