Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare is the Minister of Trade, Industry and Agribusiness-designate
The Minister of Trade, Industry and Agribusiness-designate, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has outlined plans to boost exports and create employment opportunities for Ghana’s youth.
Speaking during her vetting, Ofosu-Adjare emphasised the importance of increasing production in order to meet both domestic and international market demands.
She noted that the government will take full advantage of trade agreements, particularly the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), to promote Ghana’s exports.
“Once we produce more, the whole idea is to export, and fortunately for us, there are a lot of trade agreements. We are going to leverage on AfCFTA and other trade agreements to promote our exports to make sure that we have the market for the products that we produce,” she said.
The minister-designate also highlighted the government’s commitment to creating jobs for the country’s growing youth population. By focusing on a 24-Hour Economy, she aims to create a more dynamic, productive environment that will support both local businesses and export-driven growth.
“The whole idea of providing jobs for our teeming unemployed youth is through the 24-Hour Economy. Therefore, as we produce, we are looking for markets, leveraging on the trade agreements that we have to ensure that our products are exported,” she added.
