Celebrated actress and TV host Nana Ama McBrown has joined the Bus Stop Boys, a volunteer group, in their ongoing effort to clean gutters in Accra. The exercise took place at Swanlake in North Kaneshie, where McBrown and a team from Holy Insecticides rolled up their sleeves to tackle the waste clogging the drains.
Speaking during the cleanup, McBrown praised the dedication of the Bus Stop Boys and called for more public support for their efforts.
“The good work that the Bus Stop Boys are carrying out, they need more support. So today, I have made time to join them clean,” she said.
True to her word, McBrown didn’t just supervise the activity but actively joined in, stepping into one of the gutters to remove debris and stagnant water. With a head pan in hand, she braved the stench and got to work, setting an example for others.
“The Bus Stop Boys clean up the mess we all create as citizens,” she reminded the public, emphasizing the shared responsibility of keeping the environment clean.
Despite the challenging conditions, McBrown remained resolute. “I will also join to clean the gutters today. Me, my people from Holy Insecticides—we are not better humans than the Bus Stop Boys,” she added.
McBrown’s involvement highlights the importance of sanitation in combating health risks posed by clogged gutters. Her partnership with Holy Insecticides also underscores the need for collaboration between citizens, organizations, and community groups in promoting cleanliness.
