A section of Ghanaians have called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to take decisive measures after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

During the Sports Debate show hosted by Benjamin Sackey and aired on GhanaWeb TV, some football fans called on President Akufo-Addo to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for new persons to take over.

They believe that the Kurt Okraku-led GFA administration, who have been in office for five years, have not done enough to progress football in the nation.

“I would be very happy if the GFA is dissolved. They need to get rid of the foreign players in the Black Stars and start everything afresh. We have been saying this, but they don’t want to listen, and we keep failing. The heartbreaks are a lot,” one individual told GhanaWeb Sports.

“This GFA, they are doing their own businesses, so I want the president to intervene and dissolve it so that when FIFA ban us for some years, we can have time to restructure the team for things to get better,” a football fan noted.

“If Akufo-Addo has the balls to dissolve the GFA as well as the Black Stars and make bold decisions to appoint the right people, I think it will be better. The politics in the team is too much, especially the captaincy. So if he is able to dissolve the GFA, then we can start afresh with the Black Stars,” another person added.

One individual who is disappointed with the Black Stars team voiced out his concern, saying “The pride in the team previously is totally different from what is happening today.

“The disappointment is too much, so in my opinion, if Akufo-Addo dissolves the GFA, we can form a new administration for the team to get back to their glorious days. The current team is in a bad state.”

President Akufo-Addo has not commented publicly yet on the Black Stars’ AFCON fiasco and what he intends to do.

Ghana lost three and drew three games and won none of their six matches played in the tournament.

The team finished bottom of Group F with just three points, while Sudan and Angola qualified from the group.

It marks the first time in 20 years the Black Stars have not qualified for the AFCON.
