Sports presenter Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly known as Countryman Songo, has harshly criticised Black Stars coach Otto Addo, calling him incompetent and unfit to lead the national team.
According to report by AdomOnline, speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, Songo blamed Otto Addo for Ghana’s poor performance in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. The Black Stars failed to win a single match out of six games, finishing at the bottom of Group F with just three points.
“You played six matches, and we didn’t win even one—not against Sudan, Niger, or Angola. And you want to tell me this coach is the future for Ghana? No way,” Songo said.
The outspoken host of Fire for Fire on Adom TV added that keeping Otto Addo would only hinder the team’s progress.
While he agreed that consistency in coaching is important, he insisted that competence is key. “We want long-term coaches, yes, but not an incompetent one,” he said.
Songo also dismissed claims that dissolving the Black Stars Management Team would solve the team’s problems. “The issue is the coach. He’s not good enough. Ghana needs a coach who can bring back our glory days and transform the team,” he emphasised.
The Black Stars’ failure to qualify for AFCON 2025 marks a historic low for the four-time African champions. Songo urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to take action by finding a more capable coach to lead the team.
“Ghana deserves better. We need someone with vision, skill, and the ability to win matches,” he concluded.
The GFA is expected to meet soon to discuss the future of Otto Addo and the team.
