Veteran football administrator Kofi Manu has called for the resignation of Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, citing poor leadership and questionable decisions.
According to report by AdomOnline, Manu’s comments come amidst growing criticism from football fans and stakeholders over the state of Ghanaian football under Okraku’s leadership.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Manu questioned the transparency behind the recent presentation of buses to football clubs, demanding accountability. “As an association, are we aware of the money involved in buying the buses? How did he get approval to purchase them?” Manu asked.
He also accused Okraku of using the bus presentation to distract the public from the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana finished bottom of their group, marking the first time in 20 years that the country will miss the tournament.
“Running the FA is not about social media. Because the Black Stars performed poorly, he wanted to use the bus presentation to cover it up, but it didn’t work,” Manu said.
The former Aduana Stars director further criticized Okraku’s performance as GFA President. “Kurt Okraku has done a bad job. If he has a conscience, he should resign. For the first time in two decades, Ghana didn’t qualify for AFCON. Who resigns first in such situations?” he questioned.
Manu’s comments reflect the frustrations of many Ghanaians who feel that the leadership of Ghanaian football needs a fresh start to restore the country’s footballing glory.
