The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to have a crunch meeting in deciding the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Addo, who is tied to a 3-year contract with an option to extend for two more years upon his return, has faced torturous oppression after a discouraging second spell.
Under Addo’s sleeves after his reappointment in March, having been named as a successor to Chris Hughton, Black Stars have played nine matches, recording just two wins.
His latest setback came in Ghana’s last group match when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to third placed Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A statement released by the FA on Thursday, November 21, reads; “The Executive Council will meet the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Mr Otto Addo, on the 27th of November, 2024, to discuss his Technical report on the just-ended AFCON qualifiers and the overall performance of the Technical team since assuming duty earlier this year.”
Ghana will now shift their focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, as they have a bigger task ahead against Chad and Madagascar in their next two games in the global showpiece qualifiers in March, 2025.
