Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has expressed outrage over comments made by one of the party’s communicators, Dela, who insulted former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
Dela’s remarks, which were widely condemned, suggested that President Kufuor’s current disability was a form of divine punishment for his time in office.
“How on earth can JM allow his boys to insult President Kufuor and say he is in a wheelchair because God is punishing him?” Anyidoho said in a scathing rebuke.
“I have met him [President Kufuor] to interview him for President Mills’s biography and to discuss national issues.
“President Mills and J.J. Rawlings will be weeping. This is NOT the NDC I know!”
Dela’s controversial comment, which sparked backlash, was aimed directly at the former president, who has been confined to a wheelchair due to health issues.
Dela was quoted saying, “Let me say something to President Kufuor. He should be careful; I expect him to stay in his lane.
” He should enjoy his retirement with the riches he had from being president. He is in a wheelchair as payment for his sins as president.”
