The Chief of Akpafu in the Oti Region, Bosatē Ledzasē Mireku II, has expressed his support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, as Ghana heads into the 2024 election season.

Bosatē Ledzasē Mireku II made his endorsement public during a recent event in Akpafu, where he addressed a gathering of community members and political figures.

During his speech, the Chief highlighted his confidence in the NDC’s commitment to development in the Oti Region and the broader Volta Region, particularly in areas such as Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL).

The Chief praised what he said is the NDC’s longstanding attention to these communities, which have often been overlooked in national development initiatives, and expressed his hope that, if elected as president, Mahama would prioritise the economic and social growth of these areas.

According to the Chief, his support for the NDC stems from the party’s clear and progressive vision for Ghana, a vision that he believes aligns closely with the needs and aspirations of the people of Akpafu and surrounding communities.

“We are forward to your continued support and leadership in making Guan communities and our nation a better place for all. It is our desire and hope that you win this election in the first round.

“The late Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills visited Akpafu in the last days of his campaign to become the President of the Republic of Ghana.

“The current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, visited us here and became president, and now that President John Dramani Mahama is here, Insha Allah, victory is yours in this election.”

The endorsement comes at a strategic time, as Mahama is poised to begin a three-day tour of the Central Region, where he will further outline his vision for Ghana’s future and rally support among voters.

This tour forms a key part of Mahama’s campaign, as he aims to connect with communities across the country, listening to their concerns and pledging his dedication to tackling issues such as unemployment, infrastructure deficits, and healthcare access.
