The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has announced that the regional hospital at Sewua is ready to open its doors to the public, thanks to a dedicated power supply upgrade.
The opening of the 25-bed capacity Sewua Regional Hospital has been delayed due to a power crisis at the facility, but with a dedicated power supply now in place, the hospital is finally set to open its doors to the public.
The Minister emphasized that, this development is a welcome relief, especially considering the hospital’s significant capacity – initially reported to be 250 beds.
Located in the Bosomtwe district, the hospital’s completion has been long-awaited since its construction began in 2015, with an initial expected completion time of 20 months.
Hon Simon Osei Mensah said this when he addressed the media on Thursday November 7, 2024, when he accounted government’s performance in the region to the public.
This development ensures smooth operations and sufficient power supply to sustain the hospital’s activities.
According to Hon. Osei Mensah, the hospital has all the necessary equipment for its operational needs, and the government plans to commission the facility before the end of 2024.
This he noted move aims to improve access to quality healthcare in the region.
The Minister highlighted the NPP government’s significant contributions to healthcare infrastructure and policies in the region, which have substantially improved healthcare services.
He assured that the government will continue to invest in healthcare, providing residents with access to quality medical care.
Notable healthcare initiatives in the Ashanti Region include the construction of 25 new hospitals, expected to be completed by the end of 2024, including the Sewua hospital.
Additionally, facilities such as Bekwai Municipal Hospital, Fomena-Adansi District Hospital, and Kumasi South Municipal Hospital have received upgrades.
The government has also implemented policies and projects to enhance healthcare delivery, including the Zipline drone supply center and infectious diseases treatment centers.
These developments he added demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving healthcare in the Ashanti Region. With the opening of the Sewua hospital, residents can expect improved access to quality healthcare services.
