Ghanaians on social media have reacted strongly to a recent post made by Citi FM on Facebook.
On Wednesday, 6th November 2024, President Akufo-Addo unveiled a statue of himself at Effia-Nkwanta Hospital as part of his tour of the Western Region. Citi FM shared images of the statue as seen below.
His statue has generated numerous reactions from Ghanaians. Here are some of the comments:
Wisdom Elikim:
“I don’t blame him; it’s not his fault. I blame the very people who queued, some even at dawn and late at night, just to cast their votes for him…It is them I blame… Smh.”
Owura Kwame:
“Wow! He really deserves this beautiful statue. My best president ever. Ghanaians will miss you. Father of free education in Ghana. Addo Show Boy! God bless you more. Live long.”
Festus Osei Kweku:
“Well deserved. He’s done so much for this country. God bless you, Mr. President.”
Nini Nuhu:
“He won’t wait for Ghana to honor him because he knows he won’t get it… so the man chose to honor himself. Ajeeeeeeeiiiii!”
Albert Kissi:
“You deserve it, Mr. President. Ignore the bitter souls who are hungry and only shouting on social media!”
Ambrosia Amoako:
“This is usually done by underperforming leaders. Rawlings once said he preferred his memory to live in the hearts of people rather than in monuments. Akufo-Addo has always been self-seeking.”
Ebenezer System:
“It would have been more beautiful and graceful if this had been done by another head of state in the future. Praising yourself in this manner is just laughable.”
Rich Kofi:
“He looks so handsome. Nana forever.”
