Legendary Black Stars footballer, Reverend Osei Kofi has shared his thoughts on the abysmal performances of the Black Stars in recent times.

He explained that individuals controlling the affairs of football in Ghana have been prioritising the business aspect of the game to make more profits rather than focusing on the main objective of sports development.

The Black Stars icon stressed that poor football management has made the Black Stars lifeless, leading to the terrible results being churned out by the team recently.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports, Rev. Osei Kofi bemoaned the declining standards in the quality of the Ghana Premier League.

“The Black Stars seem lifeless to me. Just as only those who have attended law school can practice law, the same principle should apply to football administration.

“Ironically, those currently in charge of our football don’t have a deep understanding of the game; they prioritize the business aspects instead and forget about the GPL and other developmental projects,” he said.

His comment comes as members of the public continue to voice their grievances over the poor performances of the various national teams, especially the Black Stars.

The Black Stars are on the brink of failing to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco for the first time in 20 years following a disastrous performance.

After four matches played, Ghana are third in Group F with two points, Sudan are in second place with seven points, while Angola leads with twelve points.

The Black Stars will travel to face Angola and play the last match against Niger in Ghana in November 2024.
