Prof Ransford Gyampo

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, has rendered an unqualified apology to Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana (UG), Prof. Ransford Gyampo.

This follows Mr. Mustapha’s allegations that Prof. Gyampo was working with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to disenfranchise students.

The claims were made on Monday, October 28, in the wake of the University Teachers Association of Ghana’s (UTAG) anti-galamsey strike.

The NPP Youth leader accused Prof. Gyampo, who is the UG-UTAG President, of using the strike as a decoy due to an appointment promised to him in a future NDC government.

In a statement, he noted that the apology and retraction are in line with demands made by Prof. Gyampo’s lawyers.

He added that he has no evidence to back his claims, hence the need to yield to the demand, failure to which he risks legal action.
