Lionel Messi has spoken about the best atmosphere he has played in during his career.
The Argentina legend will go down in history as one of the best players to ever grace a football pitch.
Throughout his illustrious career, Messi has played Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Inter Miami.
So far, the 37-year-old has scored 748 goals in 922 appearances across all competitions. On the international stage, Messi has 128 goals in 211 matches for Argentina.
Over the years, Messi has experienced some of the most hostile atmospheres football can offer, including the likes of Anfield, San Siro and Bernabeu.
However, playing at Celtic Park seemed to have stood out for the Argentine.
Back in 2012, Messi and Barcelona were beaten 2-1 by Celtic in what was one of the most surprising results in Champions League history.
Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt scored for Neil Lennon’s men with Messi scoring late on for Barcelona.
In an article posted in 2020 on Celtic’s official website, Messi spoke about his visit to Celtic Park.
He said: “The games against Celtic were special and I want to remember them. Celtic Park is a tough place to go to. It’s never easy to get a result there.
“We know we would get a tough game if we drew them in the Champions League, but everybody involved in those Barcelona v Celtic games wants to go and play there again.”
Messi added: “It is the best atmosphere in Europe and we all want to experience that again.”
Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has previously labelled Messi as the best player he has ever seen.
He said: “Messi is the best player I have ever seen. The best thing about him is not what he does but how simple he makes everything look.
“He is not just the best player because he can dribble past three or four players, it is because he does it better than anyone in the world.”
