The lawyer of the Bawku Naaba, Maxwell Ziyerley Agbambilla, has said that the recent renewed Bawku conflict has claimed the lives of 15 people.

A new attack erupted on October 27, 2024, as assailants set up roadblocks in Gbimbisi and Walewale town, stopping vehicles to identify and target individuals, which resulted in the death of at least 8 individuals.

“For my information, we have currently lost a minimum of 15 people in Bawku and some are being slaughtered in Walewale,” Agbambilla is reported by myjoyonline.com to have said on the AM Show.

He also criticised the Attorney General for not taking timely action to issue a new arrest warrant for Alhaji Seidu Abagre, who had been in exile since his controversial installation as a rival chief in February 2023.

Following the squashing of his previous arrest warrant by a Kumasi High Court on October 17, 2024, Alhaji Seidu returned to Bawku.

He said, “We were told that the Attorney-General didn’t even put in a response so the Court had no choice but to revoke his (Alhaji Seidu Abagre’s) arrest warrant.”

He added, “The Attorney-General simply could have issued another arrest warrant but they didn’t do that.”

According to Agbambilla, the Bawku Naaba is displeased with the return of Alhaji Seidu.
