Chelsea continued their impressive start, edging out Newcastle in a 2-1 thriller. Crystal Palace finally broke their winless streak, overcoming a sluggish Tottenham side thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta’s decisive first-half goal. Mateta took advantage of a defensive lapse by Micky van de Ven, who was caught napping in possession deep in his own half.
West Ham 2-1 Manchester United
Manchester United’s woes deepened with a 2-1 defeat at West Ham, sealed by Jarrod Bowen’s stoppage-time penalty. United thought they had salvaged a point when Casemiro’s header cancelled out Crysencio Summerville’s 74th-minute opener. However, controversy struck late on when a VAR review prompted the referee to penalise Matthijs de Ligt for a challenge on Danny Ings, leaving United fuming as they suffered their third consecutive defeat at the London Stadium.
Arsenal 2-2 Liverpool
At the Emirates, a pulsating encounter ended in a 2-2 draw, with Mohamed Salah’s late equaliser rescuing a point for Liverpool. Arsenal, who were missing the suspended William Saliba, also lost Gabriel and Jurrien Timber to injuries during the second half, allowing Liverpool to mount a comeback.
