After Real Madrid’s heavy 4-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu, Carlo Ancelotti struck a balanced tone in his post-match comments. Acknowledging the missed opportunities, he said, “We missed many chances; we lost our energy when they scored.” However, the manager urged fans not to despair: “We’re hurt, yes, it’s a difficult moment. But we will not give up; the season is long.”
Reflecting on the result, Ancelotti provided a hopeful reminder: “Last time we lost 0-4 to Barça, we won La Liga and the Champions League.” Despite the defeat, he expressed confidence in his tactics, saying, “I do not regret my game plan,” and praised the first-half performance: “I have been in football 48 years, so I’m not wrong when I tell you that the first half was good.”
Ancelotti also contrasted the match with a previous loss: “It’s different from the loss vs Lille. We were very bad that day. We competed today.”
Barcelona’s scorers included Robert Lewandowski scoring two goals, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha. Inigo Martinez, the 33-year-old defender, earned the Man of the Match award, leaving his mark on a memorable performance.
Despite the disappointment, Ancelotti’s remarks highlight Real Madrid’s resilience and confidence in bouncing back, hinting that their season is far from over.
