Fake news has been the order of the day in the current dispensation. With the help of technology, one finds it very difficult to differentiate between original and fake news.

As the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections beckon, fake news has been on the rise. Perpetrators of such action aim to undermine the credibility of political actors and make them unattractive to the Ghanaian voters.

Mr Kwasi Pratt Junior, a Ghanaian journalist and managing editor of the Insight Newspaper, has dismissed fake news about Former President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on the Good Morning Ghana show on Metro TV, Kwasi Pratt Junior refutes fake news which suggested that the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be joining the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a video shared by Accra-based Metro TV, the outspoken journalist cum politician said he knows Mahama too well to know he would never join the ruling party.

He described as absurd the fake news that suggests that the Former President would consider crossing the carpet to the New Patriotic Party.

Apart from John Dramani Mahama, Mr Kwesi Pratt Junior also touched on recently circulated news that Honourable Cynthia Mamle Morrison decided to rejoin the New Patriotic Party after declaring her intention to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections as an independent candidate.

He further slammed those who perpetrate fake news, describing them as unscrupulous and dirty. Kwasi Pratt Junior called on the relevant authorities to clamp down on operatives of fake news to serve as a deterrent to others.
