According to a report by Adomonline, National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, of staging crowds during Bawumia’s recent campaign tour in the Volta Region.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen program, Gyamfi alleged that people are being transported from one location to another to boost crowd appearances, with the same individuals filling in at each campaign stop.
“I have seen buses following Bawumia around with people in. They are moving the same people around; a chunk of them. Bawumia gets down to address these supporters, and they will carry them forward to another destination,” Gyamfi claimed.
According to Gyamfi, these staged crowds are intended to create a perception of popularity in areas traditionally known as NDC strongholds, like the Volta Region.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is bullish about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s chances in the December 7 elections, citing the massive turnout at his rallies as a harbinger of victory.
The party believes this enthusiasm will translate into votes, securing a win for the NPP. However, Mr. Gyamfi counters that Ghanaians are eager for change and will vote for a reset.
