GFA President Kurt Okraku visits Saudi Arabian Football Federation

The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has visited Saudi Arabia at the invitation of his counterpart, President Yasser bin Hassan bin Mohammed al-Misehal.

The visit, which took place in late September, was designed to strengthen the partnership between the GFA and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), the Ghana Football Association revealed on Friday.

It will be recalled that in December 2022, the two football bodies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration across various areas, including Grassroots and Elite Football development for both Men and Women.

Under this agreement, SAFF committed to hosting Ghana’s national teams for matches and training camps as well as exchanging expertise in coaching, refereeing, and administration.

The partnership has already yielded results after two Ghanaian referees, Juliet Appiah and Bless Yao Serlorm, attended a capacity-building program in May this year.

The male national Under-17 team, the Black Starlets, also benefited from the partnership, visiting Saudi Arabia in May 2023 ahead of the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations, which was held in Accra.

The GFA and SAFF are working tirelessly to ensure the partnership’s continued success, driven by a shared commitment to seeing Football in both countries growing and thriving.

It is anticipated that further activities shall soon be engaged in under the Agreement.
