New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has once again launched a scathing attack on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s cousin, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, for allegedly arrogating undue influence to himself within the corridors of government.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia on Wednesday, September 23, 2024, the Subin MP accused some relatives of the president of leading the government astray.

“I didn’t say ministerial, journalists should endeavour to report accurately. I said Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, mention his name. Or are you afraid of him? Gabby Otchere-Darko, the Ghanaian prime minister whom no one has elected… that is what people call him and he gets excited by it. I am saying that Gabby Otchere-Darko, whom no Ghanaian has elected, formed the Dankwa Institute. How many people from Dankwa Institute do you see in government? Meanwhile, nobody knows these people in the party except for my brother Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, whom I know for his service to the party. The rest from Dankwa Institute who have been given positions and appointed ministers are all because of Gabby. I am telling you,”

“Since NPP came into power, two people; Ken Ofori-Atta, who has run the economy aground, and Gabby Otchere-Darko, who is behind the scenes making appointments, are still doing it… We are not afraid of anyone, we are only quiet because of the love we have for the party,” he stated.

He further questioned the authority of the president’s cousin in arrogating undue power to himself despite not being an elected member of government and not holding any official government position.

“He claims to possess all the sense in this world and goes writing about everything on social media, yet he has never gone for an election before. Who has given him the right to speak in this Ghana; who is he?… Who is Gabby? Yesterday we were going to Parliament to take decisions and he was sitting on social media telling us what to do,” he fumed.

Gabby Otchere-Darko, a private legal practitioner by profession, has been tagged as wielding unfettered power within his cousin’s government and has been referred to by some groups as Ghana’s ‘de facto Prime Minister.’
