Manchester City have seen numerous players leave the club to join other Premier League sides in recent years.

For example, City have seen the likes of Raheem Sterling, Liam Delap, Cole Palmer, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko wave goodbye to the Etihad Stadium during previous transfer windows.

Two of those players – Sterling and Palmer – joined Chelsea, although Sterling has since left Stamford Bridge to join Arsenal on a season-long loan deal, linking up with Jesus and Zinchenko.

Even though the next summer transfer window is still a long way off, Chelsea now have their eyes on bringing another figure from City’s squad to West London alongside Palmer.

Chelsea eyeing Ruben Dias transfer swoop

According to journalist Simon Phillips (via Caught Offside), Chelsea are planning an audacious transfer swoop for Ruben Dias amid some feeling that players are getting unsettled at City.

This claim of unsettled players comes from other matters going on behind the scenes such as Txiki Begiristain’s upcoming departure, the speculation surrounding Pep Guardiola’s future and the 115 charges.

Troy Deeney was amazed by Dias’ performance against Chelsea

City beat the West London club 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in their first Premier League match of the season.

Following that win, Troy Deeney heaped praise on Dias for his performance against Chelsea, saying this after including the City defender in his first team of the week of the campaign.

He said: “Dias was excellent in the champions’ win at Chelsea, getting back in the first half in front of people to save what would have been a perfect goal. Just a proper, proper defender.”

Since joining the Blues from Benfica back in 2020 for a fee of £65m, Dias has gone on to make 189 appearances across all competitions, winning multiple trophies along the way.

Given how vital Dias has proved to be for Guardiola’s side and the fact that his contract isn’t set to expire until 2027, City should have no interest in selling the centre-back to Chelsea or any other club anytime soon.
