Santi Cazorla had many iconic tricks up his sleeves, and one Arsenal star is now trying to copy him.

Cazorla became a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium over four years, with the Spaniard’s remarkable technical ability making him one of the best midfielders in the club’s recent history.

One key aspect of Cazorla’s play was his two-footedness, and he even took set pieces with different feet at times.

Leandro Trossard has now attempted to copy this niche Cazorla trick, and fans were delighted with his attempt to do so in Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Arsenal fans spot Leandro Trossard copying Santi Cazorla corner trick

One iconic Cazorla moment came when he was lining up to take a corner against Watford in his final few months at the club, and instead of hitting it with his right foot, he readjusted and took it with his left.

Trossard went to take a corner against Shakhtar, but instead of using his stronger right foot, he hit inswinging deliveries from the right side with his left foot, and Arsenal fans were quick to draw Cazorla comparisons.

“Trossard taking an inswinging corner with his left foot Haven’t seen that since Santi Cazorla,” a fan posted on X.

“Trossard pulling a Santi Cazorla and using his weaker foot on a corner,” another added.

“Trossard taking corners on his weak foot… reminds me of someone special,” a fan posted with an accompanying image of Cazorla.

“Trossard doing his best Cazorla impression taking a set piece with his weaker foot,” a delighted fan highlighted.

Leandro Trossard’s corner taking could help replace Bukayo Saka

It is currently unclear if Bukayo Saka will be fit to return for Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool, but this new development with Trossard could help replace him.

Saka’s set-piece deliveries have been lethal, with his left-footed inswinging corners from the right leading to assists against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Without Saka on the pitch, there is no other left-footed corner-taker who could replicate this, but Trossard has now made himself an option in that regard.

His deliveries with his left foot against Shakhtar were promising, and if Arsenal are to be without Saka, this is a new solution to replace some of his creative output.
