NPP Knows They Have Lost The 2024 Elections, Their Corrupt Officials Have Started Resigning -Ayariga

According to a report by Adomonline, several high-ranking government officials within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have resigned amidst accusations of corrupt practices.

One of the most vocal critics of these resignations is Osman Ayariga, the Deputy National Youth Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), who has vowed that the NDC will pursue legal action against all officials implicated in corruption if the NPP is voted out of power.

In the past few weeks, Ghana has witnessed a series of resignations from top officials within the NPP government, raising questions about their timing and motivation.

Among those who have stepped down is the former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Board Chair of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

Both resignations followed allegations of corruption and misconduct, although the officials involved have maintained that their departures were for personal reasons.

However, Osman Ayariga and other members of the NDC believe otherwise. Speaking at the campaign launch for the Binduri constituency in the Upper East Region, Ayariga made it clear that these resignations will not shield the individuals from accountability.

“NPP knows they have lost the 2024 elections. Because of that, their corrupt officials have started resigning one after the other,” he stated.

He continued, “Last two weeks, we heard the ECG boss has resigned. He said based on personal reasons. But after the 7th of January, we will know whether those reasons are personal or not personal. Just last week, the ADB board chairman, who was accused of corruption and bribery, also resigned.”

Ayariga, who also leads the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative within the NDC, further explained that the NDC is committed to prosecuting those who have engaged in corrupt activities during their time in office.

In his speech, Ayariga was unambiguous in his stance that resigning would not offer a safe passage for corrupt officials.

“To those still in government, the earlier you also resign to reduce your sentence, the better. If you don’t resign, and you wait until the 7th of December, and we waste resources and catch you, your sentencing will be more than those who have resigned,” he asserted.

“A thief is still a thief, whether you resign or not. So whether you resign today or resign on the 7th of January, you are still a chief,” Ayariga reiterated.
