Liverpool are back at the top of the Premier League after beating Chelsea 2-1.

It was not a straightforward afternoon for Liverpool who began a run of 10 really tough looking fixtures following the international break.

But inspired by a brilliant performance from Curtis Jones, the Reds came away with a crucial win at Anfield.

The victory made it 10 wins out of 11 for Arne Slot in charge of Liverpool. It could hardly have been a better start to life on Merseyside for the Dutchman.

Following in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp was never going to be easy, but Slot has done his best to make it look that way.

So far, the Dutch coach has been successful at being not at all like his predecessor in many respects. But after the win on Sunday, Jamie Carragher claimed that he’s spotted elements of Klopp now starting to creep into Slot’s personality.

Jamie Carragher spots Arne Slot difference

Slot has made an incredible start this season. The former Feyenoord boss has actually begun better than any manager in Liverpool’s history.

That continued on Sunday, as the Reds came through a difficult game against in-form Chelsea at Anfield.

It will have meant a lot to Slot to get the win. The 46-year-old has clearly been irked by Liverpool’s loss against Nottingham Forest following the September international break.

And speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Carragher claimed that he’d spotted Slot showing just how much it meant to him on the touchline, with a showing that Klopp would have been proud of.

“He’s not as emotional as Klopp, but he got wrapped up in the game today,” said the Liverpool legend. “The first sort of Anfield atmosphere he’s been involved in and Liverpool were under pressure, under the cosh.

“You saw his reaction, Nunez got a foul given against him and you see he just got himself wrapped up and showed elements of Jurgen Klopp.

“But he’s a different manager,” added Carragher. “And I think the thing that Liverpool fans are enjoying at the moment is that he’s not trying to be something else or playing up to anything. He’s being himself and he’s made a brilliant start.

Arne Slot lets his emotions show

Carragher is absolutely spot on. Slot has been brilliant at being almost the opposite of Klopp during his time at the club so far.

While Jurgen was incredibly successful at harnessing the emotional nature of the Liverpool support, Arne has tried to keep everything cool and low profile.

However, that did change on Sunday, with the Liverpool head coach showing a side to him that we haven’t really seen so far.

The moment Carragher refers to came right towards the end of the game, with Darwin Nunez nonsensically penalised for a shoulder to shoulder with Renato Veiga.

While it is not uncommon to see Nunez lose his rag a little at decisions like this, it was more of a surprise to see Slot almost on his knees in rage as the camera panned to him. The wins are of course fantastic, but this kind of thing will really help to enamour Arne to his new fans, too.
