Arsenal star Leandro Trossard and Thierry Henry know each other fairly well.
The legendary Frenchman has not been around the club too much to interact with the Gunners attacker, but the duo spent time together in the Belgium national team.
Henry was Roberto Martinez’s assistant when the latter was the manager of the Red Devils. He worked with several incredible players there and gave them a lot of advice.
Trossard was one of them, and he has benefitted from the Arsenal legend’s training.
How Thierry Henry helped Arsenal star Leandro Trossard
Trossard has always been a brilliant player.
The Belgian made a huge name for himself at Genk before moving to the Premier League with Brighton. He became a massive star at the Amex as well and earned himself a move to Arsenal.
Trossard has done a great job under Mikel Arteta, and his ability to play in various positions is one of his biggest strengths.
What also makes the 29-year-old a wonderful player is his movement. He gets into great positions irrespective of where he plays and always combines with his teammates.
Trossard has now revealed that Henry was the one who helped him and other attackers in the Belgium team by teaching them where to be on the pitch.
Speaking to Arsenal.com, the Belgian said: “I didn’t watch many games when I was young.
The only thing I knew about Arsenal were the legends like Thierry Henry, Bergkamp and so on. The team they had, the Invincible year, that’s what I remember the most. Everyone knows what a player Thierry was.
“With the national team, he tried to help the strikers and attacking players to get in the right positions. That’s what he taught me the most.”
The one trait Henry and Trossard have in common
Henry and Trossard aren’t very similar players.
The legendary Frenchman was big, strong and absolutely rapid. He played as a striker for most of his career at Arsenal and was magnificent there.
Trossard, on the other hand, is much smaller and nowhere near as quick. He’s more of a false-nine or a winger than an out-and-out centre-forward.
However, Henry and Trossard share one similarity – they are both incredible at finishing.
Many people see Trossard as the best finisher at Arsenal right now ahead of the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, and we agree with that.
The Belgian does not score as many goals as Henry did, but if he gets the ball in a shooting position, he finds the net more often than not.
