 Liverpool's Alisson Becker looks on
Alisson will be absent for Liverpool until late November after picking up another hamstring injury

A leading Premier League injury expert has given his verdict on Alisson Becker’s latest injury. The Liverpool goalkeeper will be out of action until late November after picking up a problem against Crystal Palace before the October international break.

Alisson’s latest injury marks the third time in 2024 that he has suffered from a hamstring problem. The 32-year-old was out for over a month earlier this year and missed Liverpool’s Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea in February.

The Brazilian is now set to miss several more important games for the Reds. Alisson will be absent from key fixtures against Chelsea, RB Leipzig, Arsenal, Brighton (twice), Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa over the next few weeks.

“The two biggest risk factors when we’re talking about injury incidents are fatigue and history,” Ben Dinnery, founder of PremierInjuries.com, said.

“If you have a clear pattern of injuries, then the chances of you picking up another injury in that similar area is quite high. And we know that the sensitivities around hamstring problems are increased.

“Alisson has suffered around about four, possibly even five hamstring related injuries over the last 14 to 15 months. That is a slight worry and a concern with regards to that. It’s something that you do need to be aware of.

“Alisson was coming off the back of a minor sort of hamstring issue niggle prior to this latest setback. He’s in that red zone, into that bit where he’s most at risk within that period of just returning. That is a slight worry and a concern.”

Liverpool return to action on Sunday against Chelsea with Caoimhin Kelleher likely to deputise for Alisson until his return.
