Former Black Stars assistant coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has called on the Ghana Football Association to give Otto Addo the time needed to address the team’s problems, despite Ghana’s struggles in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars are on a four-game winless streak under coach Addo and are now on the brink of failing to qualify for the continental event for the first time in two decades.

Ghana sits third in Group F with two points from a possible 12 and is realistically unlikely to qualify for the AFCON.

However, Dramani, who worked under Chris Hughton as Black Stars coach just before Addo took over, believes the team’s issues are not due to coaching but rather to structural problems.

“Since we change coaches and the problem persists, I feel Otto Addo should be given more time because it’s not about changing coaches. It has to do with the right structures and institutions,” he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

The Black Stars remain third in Group F with just two points from four games, and qualification is now out of their hands.

Ghana must now win its remaining games against Angola and Niger next month and hope that Sudan, who have seven points, lose both of theirs.
