Head coach of Sudan, James Kwesi Appiah after beating Ghana to secure his second win of the qualifiers, has stated his attention is now on winning their next game to secure qualification to the next Africa Cup of Nations.

The Falcons of Jediane deepened the Black Stars woes in the ongoing 2025 AFCON qualifiers having humbled them by 2-0 last Tuesday afternoon in match-day four in Benghazi, Libya.

Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud opened the scoring account for Sudan in the 62nd minute before starman Mohammed Abdelrahman doubled the lead three minutes later to seal the victory.

Sudan after the win have maintained their second position in Group F with seven points after four matches; having lost and drawn one with two wins to their belt.

Reacting to the win, the Ghanaian tactician described the defeat of his motherland as unfortunate but added he is now focused on getting another win to ensure they have secured qualification- which has been their ultimate target.

“Every game is serious, but Insha Allah, in the next match, we will try to secure at least a win to qualify automatically. It’s unfortunate because Ghana has a good team, and it’s regrettable that one of usnGhana or us has to exit the competition.

“Unfortunately for Ghana, Sudan has beaten them, so we will continue to push forward,” Appiah remarked.

The 1970 African champions will regroup again next month to take on Angola and Niger in the final two games of the qualifiers.
