A groom was killed by a barrage of bullets just hours after marrying the love of his life as heartbroken family members pay tribute to the newlywed.
Tyrek Burton, 37, tragically lost his life on Saturday night just outside Barber Park Events Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, after tying the knot with his wife Kiara Holloway, 33.
Officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded around 8:49 p.m. to reports of a shooting, and when they arrived, they located Burton with ‘life-threatening injuries.’
During the horrific scene, a dispatcher said Burton was shot 15 times, according to a recording from Broadcastify, a police scanner system, obtained by WRAL News.
Police said that although ‘lifesaving efforts were immediately initiated,’ Burton died later that night.
The exact motive of the gruesome shooting is unclear. Police said that officer responded ‘in reference to an aggravated assault,’ while Burton’s cousin, Keisha Satterfield, said the groom died ‘due to road rage that ended in gun violence.’

There is no information on possible suspects, as a spokesperson with the Greensboro Police Department told DailyMail.com: ‘Detectives are actively investigating what led to the shooting.’

Satterfield created a GoFundMe page in honor of her late cousin, along with a beautiful image of Burton and Holloway on the dance floor the night of their wedding.
‘On Saturday October 12, 2024 my cousin married the love of his life, on one of the happiest days of his life to tragically be cut short due to road rage that ended in gun violence,’ Satterfield wrote.
‘He was a beloved husband, father of four beautiful girls, brother and friend, known for his generosity, and infectious smile.
‘Unexpected losses can cause immense stress and pressure on families. Your donation will help cover expenses and provide support for Tyrek’s family during this difficult time.
‘Please help us ensure that he is laid to rest with dignity and that his family receives the care they need,’ she added along with a hashtag ‘JusticeforTyrekBurton.’

As of Monday evening, the page raised more than $800.
Others shared bittersweet moments of the couple on their special night, just before violence ensued.
Holloway and Burton were seen posing at the altar, as his bride wore a mermaid-style lace dress with a long veil, and he donned a white and black tuxedo.
More images showed the pair walking into their reception, during their first dance as husband and wife, as well as Holloway posing with her bouquet in hand.
Shaye Holloway, the bride’s sister, took to Facebook to pay tribute to her late brother-in-law.
‘Life is so unfair. Life is really too short. How did the day we all been waiting for turn out so bad. A beautiful day ended up so ugly,’ she said.
‘The worst thing I’ve EVER had to witness. I’m just so hurt. I’m hurt for my sister and they girls. Family and friends. I’m lost, I’m confused all while trying to be strong for my sister and nieces.

‘All I keep thinking like why him?? Why on the wedding day?? Why just why?? The replays of it in my head… I’m just broken but gotta be strong for my sister and my nieces.
‘I just wish we could had left a lil bit earlier or a little bit later and you would still be here with us . You gonna be missed my brother,’ she added.
Another family member posted a video montage from the wedding night as loved ones celebrated their love.
‘My heart is broken. Y’all please pray for Kiara and the kids, his momma, sister, and other family, their strength, their understanding, their comfort!
‘It’s so bad when you feel there’s nothing you can do. The only thing I can give them is God and a shoulder to lean on. This is so sad!
‘Kiara asked me, “How do I marry the love of my life and lose him in the same day?” Oh my God, I have no words. This is rough!,’ she wrote.
