Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu has described their 1-1 draw against Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League as a tough and challenging encounter.

The match, held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, saw Accra Lions take the lead through Ali Mohammed before Chelsea’s Stephen Amonkona quickly equalized just three minutes later.

Boadu, speaking after the game, noted the difficulty in facing a youthful and energetic Accra Lions side, especially given their strong technical team.

“It was a very difficult game. Accra Lions have young players who are energetic, and they possess a strong technical team,” Boadu commented, emphasizing the significance of the result, particularly in light of their heavy 5-0 defeat to Accra Lions last season.

“What I can say is that there is a lot of improvement. Last season, Accra Lions beat Berekum Chelsea 5-0 at Sogakope. Coming into this game, we prepared well, and I told the players to focus on playing as a team.”

Boadu also highlighted the importance of managing Accra Lions’ transitions, which posed a significant threat throughout the match.

Berekum Chelsea now sits fifth in the league standings with ten points and will be aiming to continue their progress in their next home match against Legon Cities.
