Former Ghana international Augustine Ahinful is convinced there is still a future for the Black Stars but believes a proper plan is needed.
His comments come after the team’s poor start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars opened their qualifying campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Angola, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger, and a goalless scoreline against Sudan in the first leg of the doubleheader, leaving them in 3rd place with just two points.
Despite the current challenges, Ahinful believes there is potential in this current side but emphasizes the need for a proper plan to achieve their full potential.
“The ship is not sinking; there is a future, but we need to first of all plan and plan well,” he told Citi News.
The Black Stars have arrived in Libya for their second leg against Sudan on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
The team will hold their mandatory training before the game, which is scheduled to kick off at the Martyrs of February Stadium at 13:00 GMT.
