Hearts of Oak edge Young Apostles in a thrilling game to earn their first away win of the season.
The Phobians recorded a slim 2-1 win over the debutants at the Wenchi Stadium on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Three second-half goals settled the tie after the first half ended scoreless with Hamza Issah’s goal being ruled out for handball in the process.
After having a goal ruled out in the first half, Heart eventually took the lead three minutes after recess through Emmanuel Amankwah.
Amankwah put the Rainbow lads in front after connecting a low cross from the right side, finding the roof of the net with his shot from inside the box.
The home in an attempt to keep their home invisibility, took the game to Hearts but had to until the 83rd minute when they finally got the equaliser.
Samuel Prempeh pulled them level with a Goal-of-the-season contender, an astonishing bicycle kick from the edge of the box, beating goalkeeper Benjamin Asare who was off his line.
Apostles could not hold onto the draw as Hearts of Oak reclaimed the two minutes after restart through marksman Hamza Issah.
Issah’s scored a brilliant volley after receiving a teasing ball from Sanni Mohammed who dazzled his way around two players.
The stunning goal turned out to be the winner as Hearts of Oak secured their second win of the season. They have climbed to 8th on the table with 8 points after six games while Young Apostles have dropped into the relegation zone following the defeat.
Hearts of Oak would want to extend their winning streak when they visit Dreams FC on matchday 7 while Apostles will look to get back to winning ways when they visit Accra Lions.
