FC Barcelona Star Lamine Yamal Injury Recovery Time Revealed Amid Real Madrid And Bayern Clashes

FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has picked up an injury while on international duty for Spain, in a key month for the Catalans with clashes against Real Madrid in El Clasico and Bayern Munich in the Champions League on the horizon.

The 17-year-old finished a 1-0 win over Denmark in the UEFA iShares MSCI EAFE ETF Nations League on Saturday with discomfort in his hamstring and was seen leaving the stadium limping.

The RFEF later released a statement on the matter, saying that Lamine “underwent an MRI this morning in Madrid to assess the discomfort reported after the match against Denmark”.

“The tests have not detected a structural injury and the RFEF medical services confirm that it is an overload. Prioritising the player’s health and to avoid any risk of injury, given the immediacy of the match against Serbia, it has been decided to dismiss him,” the Spanish FA added.

Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo Riquelme will replace Lamine for a Tuesday clash against Serbia, while the Barca prodigy is expected to fly home to Barcelona on Sunday afternoon.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Blaugrana correspondent Javi Miguel explained that more tests will be carried out, with Lamine doubtful for his club’s game against Sevilla a week from now if an overload is confirmed by Barca medical staff.

Even if Lamine is cleared for the Andalusians visiting Montjuic Stadium on October 20, for what is Hansi Flick’s side’s first game back following the international break, it might be wise to rest him in any case.

This is because Barca then have two crucial fixtures to contest against bitter rivals Real Madrid in La Liga and Flick’s former employers Bayern Munich on the continent in the Champions League.

Barca currently leads the Spanish top flight by three points going into an installment of El Clasico which could prove key to the where the La Liga title ends up come May.

As for Bayern, they have been the boogeymen for Barca in Europe in recent years and would provide a great litmus test for a team that has won one and drawn one in the UCL thus far.
