Kwesi Pratt has shared his thoughts on the Ghana law school brouhaha and the economic hardships in the country. In a recent rating, Standard and Poor have downgraded Ghana and placed her on a CCC+ grade with a negative outlook. This means that it will be difficult for Ghana to get any favorable deals at the international market.
Kwesi Pratt while speaking on Pan African TV’s Alhaji and Alhaji today, Saturday, August 6, 2022, Kwesi Pratt noted that most of the members of the General Legal Council and those managing the economy didn’t take good grades to the university and yet they got admission to study. He questioned why the GLC is now putting restrictions in place for new students who want to read law. The GLC has the Chief Justice, Attorney General, Dean of Law at Legon, Deputy AG and other prominent figures.
He mentioned that these same politicians despite enjoying during their time in the past come to power and rather try to make the process difficult. Kwesi called on a legislation to curb the powers of the GLC. Kwesi also raised questions why a lawyer like Akufo-Addo will sit down and watch what the GLC is doing without intervening.
“Most of them went to the university with E. They had 3 square meals and one cubicles for everyone. They had cleaners to clean their rooms. After meals they had ice creams. Why are they doing this when they come to power,” Kwesi said
